Cheetos, pool, really?

Wow, what an experience we had at the Parsippany Sheraton in Parsippany, NJ. Many things happened during this short stay, but these were the stand out events.

We checked in to this lovely hotel.  It looks like a castle so the kids were immediately intrigued. First thing we asked was if the pool and jacuzzi were working.  We went to our room dropped off our bags, changed and went straight to the pool.  This is where it starts to get crazy...half an hour from check-in.  There were a number of people in the pool, but there was a life guard on duty, so we thought everything would be under control.  As soon as we got in the pool, 3 teenage boys began running around the pool and jumping in.  They did not care if they were splashing on a small child or a 90 year old.  The most absurd part was the life guard did nothing to stop them.  Even though there is a huge sign that says "No Running in the Pool Area".  What is the whistle used for?

The incident was certainly annoying and disturbing, but what happened next took the prize.  There were approximately 3 adults and a 4-5 year old in the jacuzzi.  My husband immediately goes in.  It took him about 30 seconds to come back out.  The child in the jacuzzi was eating Cheetos.  At her moms request, the child washed her hands in the jacuzzi water while people were in there.  Can you imagine how disgusting the water became and how awful for the adults that had to get out.  Once again, the life guard was notified of what happened and did nothing.  At this point, we went to the front desk to complain about the pool area.  We were told they would look into it.  Really?  No one went to the pool to see what was happening or to discuss it with the life guard. Things only got worse during our stay.  Needless to say it was the shortest hotel stay we have ever had.  We checked in at 3:00 pm and checked out at 9:00 p.m.  Funny thing is the front desk clerk did not even try to get us to stay.  Is he so used to this behavior that he does nothing to stop guests from leaving?  Don't think that's good for business.

The next day we contacted the general manager of the hotel so that he would know what was happening in his hotel.  We spoke to his assistant.  She contacted us a few days later and offered to add members reward points to our account.  It was enough points for another stay on them.  They wanted us to go back and give them another chance.  We have not done so.  There is a permanent image in our heads of those orange covered little hands in the jacuzzi. Ugh!
